CISB is proud to announce that our Grade 10 (MYP 5) students have achieved great results in their 2021-2022 Personal Projects. The Personal Project is the culminating task completed by MYP students in their final year to explore an area of passion over an extended period. As a result, students develop skills and knowledge they will use in the Diploma Programme, such as in the Extended Essay and more importantly life outside the classroom.

CISB student Results :

CISB’s average is 14.5% above the global average. At 4.82, CISB students have scored significantly above the worldwide average of 4.23

Half of our students scored either a 5 or a 6

22 Personal Projects were submitted for external moderation by the IB.

Externally moderated by the IB, the Personal Project is the first externally marked assessment. The Personal Project is based on the students choosing a learning goal for themselves and then creating a product based on that goal. During the process the students create an action plan, write up success criteria, set timelines, and record their progress in a process journal. All of this culminates in the students writing a Personal Project Report that outlines how they planned, applied their skills, and reflected upon the impact that their learning and product had on them and others.

What is important to note is that this was the first cohort who undertook this under the new Personal Project objectives, criteria, and guidelines. As with anything that happens for a first time it was an exciting challenge for both teachers and students to learn from this new process and navigate this new terrain.

Some of the projects from the 2021-22 school year included: learning American Sign Language, exploring nuclear fission, inquiring into garment manufacturing and French fashion during the French Revolution, creating a Tuberculosis awareness campaign for People Living With HIV, and building a remote-controlled trash collecting boat. The ingenuity, passion, and simple hard work demonstrated by all of the students was very impressive.

Congratulations to our CISB students who faced this challenge and learnt a great deal about their topics and themselves in the process.
