SDGs Youth Innovators Challenge Singapore Training BootcampThe UN SDGs Youth Innovators Challenge, organized by the Global SDGs and Leadership Development Center (GSLDC), a UNITAR-affiliated entity, in collaboration with global youth partners, is themed around “Innovation for a Better Future: Sustainable Development Practices from Community to Global.” It aims to enhance youth’s sustainable development knowledge and nurture UN SDGs Youth Innovation Pioneers via interactive activities. Teaming up with the International Diagnostic & Admissions Test (IDAT), the bootcamp utilizes IDAT’s extensive global network of schools and professional partners across six continents.
Concentrating on “AI for a Sustainable Future,” the program explores AI’s role in advancing sustainable development and equips participants with skills to integrate AI into sustainability initiatives. It combines theoretical learning with hands-on experiences, including visits to AI companies, cultural explorations, sustainability projects, and concludes with a Model United Nations (MUN) simulation, enabling participants to apply their knowledge globally.

* Participants: Students aged 11-18 years old in Grade 5-12 from domestic and international school

Scholarship Policy: IDAT Scholarship Program
Students need to take the IDAT scholarship exam, which assesses English proficiency, personality traits, and other academic skills. Successful candidates receive invitations to the training camp, with top scorers eligible for scholarships:

What is IDAT?
The International Diagnostic & Admissions Test is a comprehensive global assessment aimed at assisting students and schools around the world to know students’ true abilities and to support their future learning. The test assess parts of students academics, learning preferences and general capabilities. It is used and trusted around the world by top schools.

Satya Tripathi

As a development economist, lawyer, and changemaker, Mr. Tripathi has over 40 years of extensive experience. With more than two decades of service within the United Nations, he has held significant roles including Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Director of the New York Office, and Secretary of the United Nations Environment Management Group. Additionally, Mr. Tripathi has contributed his expertise as a member of the Global Agenda Council on Forests at the World Economic Forum, demonstrating his profound experience and leadership in sustainable development, environmental management, and international cooperation.

Jack Huang

As a UN Research Fellow and an advisor to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mr. Huang is committed to advancing the SDGs, digital innovation and cross-border collaboration. Mr. Huang has extensive public and private sector experience, having held key positions in a number of technology and energy-related companies, focusing on technology-driven sustainability strategies, ESG policies and digital governance frameworks. His work encompasses policy advice, international development programmes and innovative technology applications, and he is actively involved in global youth leadership and social enterprise development programmes.

Björn Schuller
Tenured Professor, Department of Computing, Imperial College of Science and Technology

Björn Schuller is a distinguished professor in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly renowned for his work in affective computing and machine learning for audio and speech analysis. He has made significant contributions through his research on analyzing human emotions, personality traits, and mental health conditions using machine learning algorithms via speech and other modalities. With numerous publications in top journals and conferences, Schuller has received multiple awards for his research. He is also a co-founder of audEERING, a company specializing in emotion recognition and audio analysis software. Additionally, he holds professorships at Imperial College London and the University of Augsburg, among others, and is a fellow of several professional associations.
