Class Content:
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System which goes for 3 hours. The IELTS is Standard English test for students who want to study in the U.K. Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Our course will mainly focus on reading and writing. This is mainly because at an international school students use English take classes so they have very little difficulty with speaking and listening but they still struggle with reading the academic texts which appear in IELTS as they are often taken from university text books or articles which are a much higher level than what they study at school. The IELTS reading test many different skills. Students will trained to read for the general sense of a passage, read for the main ideas, read for details, understand inferences and implied meaning, recognize a writer’s opinions, attitudes and purpose and follow the development of an argument. In regards to writing, students will be trained for both writing tasks in IELTS which includes: descriptive writing for graphs and statistics and essay writing. Students will learn to write a response appropriately, organize ideas and use a range of vocabulary and grammar accurately.
Two mock tests will be used to examine the effectiveness of their learning. Prior to the course, students’ original capacities will be measured through a placement test, and students will be required to take a final test at the end of their course. By comparison of two test results, the progression or the weakness can be clearly observed by parents, from which our teachers will be able to correspondingly propose some advice for further study.
Classes will be held twice a week for 2 hours each class.
