Last week, a group of determined students took part in the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) practice trip to the scenic Pinggu Hongshimen. With heavy backpacks and high spirits, they trekked nearly seven hours through rugged terrain, learning valuable life skills along the way. From mastering map reading and navigation to cooking meals over gas burners, the students truly embraced the DofE spirit of challenge and growth.

While the trip was meant to be a two-day outdoor adventure, a severe wind warning on Thursday night meant we had to adjust our plans. In a great show of flexibility and resilience, students returned to campus and camped overnight in the school gym—still carrying on with the experience, just under a different roof.

This trip was more than just a hike—it was a powerful reminder of what our students can achieve when they work together, support one another, and face challenges head-on.

At our school, we’re proud to offer opportunities like the DofE program that not only build character and independence, but also foster lifelong skills and unforgettable memories. We look forward to the next expedition!
