Following a comprehensive selection process that included meaningful engagement with students, parents, and staff, the Board of Directors of the Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nathan Gray as the incoming Early Years and Elementary School Principal, effective August 2026.
As part of the rigorous selection process, after the initial first round of interviews, only candidates with previous experience as a Principal in an international context and previous experience of working in China were selected for the final panel interviews. In this phase, Mr. Gray met online with the interview panels representing the various stakeholders of the CISB community including: students, parents, staff, the school leadership and the Board. Feedback from those panels played a crucial role in shaping the final appointment, reflecting the community’s voice in this leadership transition.
Mr. Gray brings over 32 years of experience in education, including senior leadership roles across Early Years, Elementary, and K-12 school communities in Australia and China. Mr. Gray’s leadership philosophy aligns with the CISB’s values and commitment to whole-child development and continuous school improvement. He brings a demonstrable record of collaborative, transparent, and people-centred leadership style, with an emphasis on partnership, professional culture and student wellbeing. This facilitated his successful leading of curriculum development, enrolment growth, and community building within the local context.
Mr. Gray’s experience and leadership will play a crucial role in guiding the Early Years and Elementary School through the next phase of CISB’s development.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Mr. Nathan Gray to the CISB community.
