From Kindergarten to Grade 5, students participate in a dedicated Wellness Program grounded in Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Students receive a 40-minute explicit SEL lesson each week, taught in small groups by homeroom and specialist teachers.
These lessons focus on five key areas:
- Self-awareness,
- Self-management,
- Social awareness,
- Relationship skills,
- Responsible decision-making.
Wellness learning does not stop with the weekly lesson. Teachers intentionally integrate SEL skills into units of inquiry, classroom discussions, group work, and assessment opportunities. Each unit highlights selected SEL skills that connect naturally to the learning context, allowing students to practice empathy, collaboration, resilience, and reflection throughout the school day.
