The admissions process is composed of 5 steps:
General Timeline
The application and review process takes approximately 1-2 weeks following full completion of the application stage (including all relevant supporting documents). Though every effort is made to complete the application process as efficiently as possible, additional documentation or steps in this process may be required at the request of the Admissions or Academic teams to ensure the success of your child at CISB.
1. Inquiry
Please submit your inquiry online here or get in touch with our Admissions team by email (admissions@cisbeijing.com) or by phone at (+86-10) 6465 7788. Your family will then be assigned a dedicated Admission officer who will support you and your family throughout the admissions process to the start of school.
2. Visit
Join us on campus or meet with us virtually to learn more about how we implement the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes alongside the Canadian (New Brunswick) provincial curriculum, explore our facilities, and see our classrooms and learning spaces in action.
3. Application
Please start and submit an online application here through OpenApply. If you formally inquired at Step 1 through OpenApply, this inquiry form will convert to an application once you have completed all sections.
Please refer to our Application Checklist for what is required:
- Completed online Application Form (all sections)

- Confidential School Reference Form (Required for Grade 1 applicants and up)
- Copy of applicant’s Passport
- Copy of applicant’s Birth Certificate

- Copy of parent/guardian’s valid Chinese Visa
- Payment of non-refundable Application Fee (2,000 RMB)

4. Assessment and Interview
Once an application is submitted and we have received all supporting documentation, our Admissions team will conduct an initial review and verification process. Following this, your Admissions officer will schedule an observation, assessment, or Principal interview at a suitable date and time.
Principal interviews provide an opportunity to learn more one on one with each applicant and his/her family. A WIDA assessment is set up to assess each child’s ability across four language domains (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and is dependent on the applicant’s intended grade-level of entry. The assessment results place students on a scale between Levels 1 (Entering/Beginner level) to 6 (Reaching/Near-Native level). There are minimum English language requirements from Grade 5 and up, so please visit our FAQs to learn more.
5. Application Decision
Every application is thoroughly and holistically reviewed, considering all application form details, supporting documentation, results and outcomes of any observations, assessments, and/or interviews completed.
A formal application decision will be shared within 1-3 working days, following completion of details outlined in Step 4. Please note that this may be shared within 5-7 working days during peak periods.
