This week, our Grade 1 students visited the Sound Art Museum to explore interactive exhibits connected to our Unit of Inquiry “How the World Works” – focusing on light and sound. Students used their classroom vocabulary to describe what they heard and saw, deepening their understanding of how sound is made and how it travels. They were curious, thoughtful, and excited to share their observations with one another.

Here are a few of their reflections:

We go there to hear sounds. We hear the animal sounds. The circle is a light and we stand there and we have shadows.

We experienced how animals can make sound and we also pressed buttons and then the vibrations make the salt go in patterns.

– Amity

My favorite part was the cone room because we are inside the cone.

– Nina

I like room one. I like the old instrument sound.

– Kiki

I learn about the bat. Bat can use the mouth to make sound. The sound helps bat find where to go.
