The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DofE): Discover Your Potential

Founded in 1956 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, and educationalist Kurt Hahn, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognised framework for holistic education. Operating in over 130 countries and territories, it empowers young people aged 14-24 to dream big, embrace challenge, and make a difference in their world.

The Challenge:

Participants design their own programme across four core sections, developing transferable skills and resilience:

Volunteering: Contributing meaningfully to your community.

Physical: Boosting fitness, health, and well-being.

Skills: Cultivating talents, interests, and practical abilities.

Expedition: Planning, training for, and completing an adventurous journey.

(Gold Level participants also undertake a Residential Project.)

Levels of Achievement:

Progress through three levels, each requiring greater commitment:

Bronze (Age 14+ )

Silver (Age 15+ )

Gold (Age 16+ )
